We are 2 hours into boiling the sap….after going around to all the tapped trees and collecting and hauling the sap to the outdoor woodstove.

The children have been busy going into the woods to pick up twigs and branches.  I’m all smoked out getting the fire started and keeping it going.

I’ve seared a small hole in one of my fingers from grazing it on the stove.

And now, as I’m typing this post, I’m realizing why there’s a puff of feathers around me…my down jacket has sprung a leak…I’m not sure if it’s because I grazed it against the stove or if it got torn off the edge of the icy ground where I’d put my jacket down while stoking the fire.

All I know is there’s feathers on my computer, on the ground and everywhere.  AARRGHHH…

It’s going to be a long night…
