Boil Button

Number of times I’ve hit the “BOIL” button on my Zojirushi electric hot water dispenser to make a cup of tea for myself today: 8

Number of times I’ve had a cup of tea today: 1

I’ve got the dispenser set at 195 degrees. But I like to boil it to 212 for my tea. Problem is I get interrupted while waiting. And by the time I remember to get the water, the temperature of the water is on its way back down to 195.

Now, I’m finally sitting here at half past one, with my cup of tea – brewed, not at 212, but yes, you guessed it…195 degrees, the last interruption being an electrician who showed up at my door.

Sigh.

  1. Never reboil water. It sets off a chemical substance (name too long to remember)that is bad for your health.I have dispensed with the hot water dispenser and now use an electric kettle to boil water for each fresh cup of tea or beverage

  2. I wonder if the material of the flask makes a difference.
Or is it the chemicals in the treated water that is causing the problem??
If so, then perhaps our water, being from the well and thus untreated, would not affected?
