Quote of the Day

To Do: Replace three 30-year-old stained, gunky, malodorous, never-ending-flushing a.k.a. water INefficient toilets

Status: 2 out of 3 replaced.
Verdict: Absolutely wonderful.

In the words of a certain member of this family, who shall remain nameless:

“I LIKE this toilet. It’s so nice to pee in a toilet that doesn’t look like it’s going to pee right back at you.”

  1. how to laugh at one post…all are funny πŸ™‚

ps we get a chance to get a new loo, wonder if i should make it a composting one….do you have any thoughts?

  2. Barb,

Now you’ve got my brain churning on a composting one….I think my dh will probably balk at it! We could use the compost though! Maybe we could install one outdoors. πŸ™‚

I’m assuming you’re in Singapore. If so, I guess my question would be whether you have use for the compost that you’ll be generating? Or a willing recipient?!

Honestly, I haven’t really looked into it very much…because it’s a tad too hippie for us right now πŸ˜‰ But..who knows? It’ll definitely be a treat for our septic system. hmm…brain churning…

  3. in singapore now but will be moving down under in dec. the backyard could use the compost if we were to get a composting loo fitted in~

i am gleaning ideas with your move to the country and how you are simplifying, going back to baking, cooking, sewing, chooks (and bunnies, you have to get bunnies).

    • You have a great opportunity for that compost loo then! I’d be very interested in knowing how you do with it.

As for chooks & bunnies – I’ve got all my video clips on butchering all ready. Just need the animals. πŸ™‚

  4. Loved the QOTD … HYSTERICAL! πŸ˜€

  5. mustardseedmum, err, both chooks and buns were for the eggs and poop. not for eating! we have/had five furbabies in our hdb flat.

ps can’t phrase this witty, but do you have a name?

    angie, what is qotd?

    barb

    • Ahem. Yes, I think we’ll start with eggs. But I think raising some broilers might be interesting too – great thing about those is that they’re short term over the summer.

Question – what do you do with bunny poop?? Heat source?

And I think qotd stands for quote of the day…

      I have a name, it’s top secret. πŸ™‚

  6. i will be looking out for the chook posting! collecting the eggs would be so fun.

there are some decent sites for the housing. the aussie blog down to earth had some good links.

i dumped bun poop neat into my pots. the plants thrived and the only casualty was with my asian pennywort that didn’t like coffee grounds. it pretty much died instantly.
