Frugal Friday

Before you toss that empty box of cereal, here’s a way to reuse and save money.

Turn it into a magazine/book/file or whatever holder. You know, the ones that run you a few bucks each at IKEA?

Materials required: a larger-type cereal box, (I guess the regular size ones would do, you just won’t be able to put as much in it), a pair of scissors, tape & wrapping paper (or any type of paper that will fit the box) – Last 2 items optional as you’ll see below:

Empty cereal box

Cut the top and sides so that it looks like a magazine holder

This is one I wrapped up in scrapbook paper

But if you’re lazy pressed for time, unwrapped works just as well.

These boxes hold my sewing patterns. But I also use it for the children’s school file folders.

  1. this is a great idea! I like it unwrapped! very retro sort of look! hey, people use these “cereal box” looks to make bags and pencil cases and the like! thanks for sharing!
