What Does Your Bible Say About Screaming?

The kids and I were doing our devotions together and I asked the girls what they wanted to ask God to help them in that day.  I also shared with them that I was going to ask God to help me to be patient and to speak nicely to them.  The following conversation ensued:

Megalos: “Mummy, what does your bible say about screaming?”

Me: “Well, the bible doesn’t actually use the word “screaming”, but it does say that we shouldn’t be angry.  And that we shouldn’t sin in anger.”

Megalos: “So that means you’re not allowed to scream at us?”

Me: “Yes, I guess you could say that.”

  1. I knnow how hard it can be, sometimes, to calm down and because I’m worried about it myself, I teach my daughter to tell me to calm down. It works and at times, make my ‘wanting to scream’ almost hilarious! Try it! Since you have four, they can take turns to tell you? 🙂

  2. Hi AM,
Yes, I think I recall you saying on New Parent’s blog that you taught your daughter to tell you to calm down.
Over the years, we’ve had little signals between the children and I (and my husband) when one of us is starting to raise our voices a little.
Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t. 🙂
