A few weeks after the baby was born, my neighbour blessed us with 2 huge tubs of her grown-up son’s lego. (She’ll regret it when she starts having grandchildren who’ll ask for lego later on)
There were complete boxed sets –
bases
And somewhere in the pile of loose pieces, were signs of a castle and a ship.
The tubs sat in our foyer for more than a week because it was mind boggling just trying to figure out how we would organize it and integrate these pieces with our existing lego.
Finally, we plucked up our courage and decided to tackle the tubs. Being a little on the obsessive compulsive side, MS dad and I decided to “organize” the lego into neat piles. We even googled “lego – how to organize” and came upon a very neat website.
We declared the following day “Lego day” in lieu of school.
It turned out to be 5 Lego days. That’s how long it took MS dad, myself and the 2 girls to sort through the pieces.
Some of the loose pieces, somewhat sorted out:
Our basement taken over by blocks: (Every container you see in the picture has lego pieces in them)
Part of the reason why it took so long was because MS dad was also putting together the ship and the castle, and also the boxed sets to see if we had all the pieces…which amazingly, after 15 years, had not been lost.
The castle assembled:
Lego after it’s been sorted:
(I told you we were OCD)
Now the children aren’t allowed to play with it. They’ll just mess up the blocks. haha
Just kidding.
Sort of.
Oh. My. Word.

Pilgrim Mom,
The 2 smaller box sets are coming your way, in addition to approx 2.5 lbs of assorted pieces.
Have fun!
Deldobuss,
Yes! It was indeed a blessing! The funny thing is another friend who just had her 6th baby was blessed with tubs of lego by a neighbour who was also getting rid of her 20-something y.o son around the same time our tubs arrived!

Thanks again. One day I might get into a sorting fit as well, after which the kids will only be allowed to play with Legos under lock and key. Honestly, there are little pieces of Lego EVERYWHERE in the home. ….

you are hilarious, the both of you! I must confess to obsessively making sure that the parts of each of our 3 sets of Legos are in their respective boxes, but still…nothing like your level of OCD, and even then, mine are the larger duplos! did u get the link to the site I sent you where they recreated the bibe with Lego? maybe you should try that!
